Art Miami at the Art Miami+CONTEXT Pavilions

  • Art Miami Herald Plaza Miami, FL United States (map)

In our most extensive artist presentation in Miami in over a dozen years, Long-Sharp Gallery returns to Art Miami with works by sixteen artists.  From masters such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and David Hockney, to established and emerging artists, this year’s presentation illustrates the depth and breadth of LSG’s program.

Works by Andy Warhol and Patrick Hurst (UK/Italy) are joined at the front of the booth in “The Preserve” – Hurst’s newest sculpture, the Tree of Life, is juxtaposed with Warhol’s drawings and collages depicting his “endangered species” and “vanishing animals.”

A second group of works by three British artists and one American artist are combined to focus on the use of text in paintings, sculpture, and works on paper.  “More Than Words” will include large- and small-scale sculpture by Nicola Anthony (UK), with paintings and works on paper by the late David Spiller and his wife Moira Cameron (UK).

A third group, Abstraction, features wall sculpture, painting, and works created  on or with paper by six artists.  Abstraction is explored through the works of Surrealist Joan Miró, paired with strong established and emerging artists Cha Jong Rye (sculpture, South Korea), Oliver Marsden (painting, UK),  Julia Ibbini (paper sculpture, UAE), and Spiller + Cameron (UK).

The final group section includes works by six artists (including Roy Lichtenstein, Jean-Michel Basquiat,  and David Hockney) and explores figures and objects in perspective.  New work by Jason Myers (US) and Lavett Ballard (US) explore this theme.

As ever, the LSG presentation seeks to be as immersive and educational as its guests desire.  Short bios on each artist and informative background on the works will be offered.
