Studio Ibbini is an award-winning art and design practice led by Jordanian-British artist and designer Julia Ibbini (b. 1980) in collaboration with French computer scientist Stéphane Noyer. Together, they investigate geometry, structure, and systems of repetition — using algorithms and digital fabrication not to replace the hand, but to extend what the hand can do. The results are works of extreme intricacy that are, in every sense, distinctly human in origin.
Ibbini earned a BA (Hons) in Visual Communications from Leeds University College of Art and Design, UK. Her background spans graphic design and maker culture; Noyer's work centers on computational geometry. Their collaboration, which began in 2016, moves fluidly between the analog and the digital, the past and the present.
The studio's work draws on the deep vocabulary of pattern and ornament — geometric systems that have encoded meaning, beauty, and mathematical precision across centuries — and reanimates that vocabulary through contemporary tools and a rigorous process that is neither nostalgic nor derivative. The work is in active conversation with a tradition, not in reproduction of it.
In 2019, Studio Ibbini received the Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East Designer Prize, awarded in partnership with Tashkeel, Dubai. In 2025, the studio was shortlisted for the Design Prize (Craftsmanship) at the Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris. In 2026, the studio was commissioned to create new works for Arab Design Now at Design Doha — including a special commission developed in direct dialogue with artifacts from the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha.
Work has been featured in Vogue Arabia, Fast Company, Colossal, and The National, and exhibited at the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival, Jeddah 21,39, Art Miami, the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens (FL), and Treasure House Fair (London), among others.
Ibbini is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Long-Sharp Gallery represents the artist in the United States and United Kingdom.
