Rebel Artifacts - Sitta

"Our research for this series of sculptures centered on the rhythm, balance and geometry inherent in biomorphic patterning, specifically Islimi (biomorphic arabesque). This rich and complex ornament language is endlessly fascinating, with a deeply multicultural history and a profound, universal appeal.

We combined custom computational geometry software, 3d printing and laser cutting with more traditional drawing and hand building techniques to create intricate vases made from paper. The final build is carried out entirely by hand, requiring skill, time, and a deep understanding of the material."
