Explosion

Beginning in 1962, Lichtenstein began incorporating images of explosions into his works, images often borrowed from popular war comics of the era. This screenprint was included in “Portfolio 9” along with works by de Kooning, Francis, and Motherwell. It employs many of Lichtenstein’s signatures: primary colors, Benday dots, and comic strip influences.
