Veil 2

“Veil 2” is part of a series of paintings where I constrained the direction of the work to a primarily vertical plane. This perspective required me to search for a new approach, so that the verticality (coupled with the long, rectangular shape of the canvas) was not confining or repetitive. I needed to liberate, somehow, the painting from that strong direction without the use of form or bold figures. Exploration is always a fascinating aspect of working with abstraction. This practice allowed me to re-see, with even more understanding, the minimal, quiet works of artists I admire.
