Want/Need Biscuits
“On holiday, my wife asked if I wanted a biscuit with my tea. I replied ‘yes, please’, and put it by the bed but forgot about it. The next day, I looked at the biscuit and thought – ‘I want you but I don’t need you.’
The idea formed that we all want things in our lives but don’t need them, and the biscuits were born – I put WANT on one side and NEED on the other. The Biscuits are an important image for me as they do symbolise our acquisitive society. (Ironically, my solicitor has a small chocolate one in her handbag. She told me that when she is shopping for clothes and feels the biscuit in her bag, she sometimes decides she does not need the new power suit, even when she wants it!)”
