Details of Renaissance Paintings
(Leonardo da Vinci, The Annunciation, 1472)

A unique screenprint by Andy Warhol

In 1984, Warhol created many works inspired by the Italian Renaissance, including those in which he transformed and reinterpreted Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, Uccello’s St. George and the
Dragon
, and da Vinci’s The Annunciation. Warhol completed drawings of Renaissance statues as early as the 1950s, screenprints of the Mona Lisa in the 1960s, and over one hundred works inspired by da Vinci’s The Last Supper in 1986-1987.
