Pearlescent

“Much of my work is about the geometry, edges and angles of the book form – but with Pearlescent I was looking to create a softer, more rounded effect. Paper has a memory, so I worked with the paper in a different way - by starting out with tightly rolled inkjet prints on Japanese paper - the soft curves of the roll remained when I folded it like an accordion book. The result are these curved, bouncy, ribbon-like strips of paper that cascade down the wall, like little rainbows or mountainscapes. I worked with pure color for this piece and chose a palette reminiscent of the inside of an abalone shell.”
