"The main dark form in this painting moves almost as one shape. The color underneath the top layer is very bright, almost neon blue, which gives the work kind of a glow. In the first layers of a painting, I rarely know what they will become. This stage is about watching for the direction the work is beginning to take and allowing the tension between form and spaciousness to guide the next step."
