According to the Artist

This is a difficult painting to write about.

My work is intuitive and after I begin a piece it becomes a conversation between me and the canvas. I put down a gesture and stand back until I become aware of how to continue.

I started this piece wanting to use two different - but close in size - canvases, so there is a slight asymmetry which is deliberate. The fun was using luminous reds and dark blacks and browns to express a feeling of desire, excitement, slight unease and  --- a confidence in the beauty of imperfection. The Japanese call this wabi sabi .

Desire, urge, and impulse are synonyms for temptation -- feelings we all experience.
