Intersection III
“I am a site-responsive artist; my practice explores the expanded field of drawing through colourful geometric lighting gel window installations, wall drawings, and digital projections. My artworks interact with the light of day to emphasise the passing of time: using geometric shapes, harmonious colour palettes, and dynamic patterns. They filter light turning it into a tool for drawing. The coloured shapes of light and shadow activate their surroundings to highlight the architecture and character of their environment.
My recent glass artworks are a series of new propositions created from hand cut and layered fused glass. The panels are made by cutting a specialist ‘art’ glass and fusing pieces together in a kiln. I make the panels using two layers of glass which I cut by hand and piece together to create new colour combinations. Some of the pieces change colour in the kiln due to their chemical composition causing reactions in the heat. There’s always an element of magic to the final appearance of the panels. However the transparent panels are consistent in how they allow light to travel through them, throwing out pools of glowing colour and shadow."
